Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla said Wednesday that in his personal businesses not support Walmart “because they are a nickel.”
“I support products here. No support for the stores that are made poorly with demands in the Federal Court against the Department of Finance. No support for these megastores that poorly with the country, which poorly with their employees, they pay their employees miseries and demanding the country in the worst time of fiscal crisis. “
On December 4, the Walmart Puerto Rico, Inc. corporation filed in US District Court for the District of San Juan a lawsuit against the Department of Finance and his secretary, Juan Gomez Zaragoza which questioned the constitutionality of Law 72 ( known as the ‘transfer pricing’) under the allegation that the statute violates the interstate commerce clause and other federal laws.
García Padilla also mentioned that as a consumer supports entrepreneurs doing business in Puerto Rico. As an example, he said he supports the company Microsoft, which has its operations in the town of Humacao, unlike Apple, “which has neither an Apple Store in Puerto Rico.”
